Emu leg skins are extremely attractive in appearance making them an ideal feature or highlight on any leather goods. Each leg skin is unique in character. They exhibit a reptilian, scaly appearance and are extremely strong and durable.
The leg skins are graded depending on their size and quality as for a variety of reasons, natural or otherwise, not all skins are perfect. Examples of imperfections or variation in quality may include a blemish, scratch, knife cut, toe or toes missing, inconsistent dye colour or variable texture and feel.
A Grade - Full perfect skin.
B Grade - Generally full skin with less than 5 minor imperfections or may be an A Grade skin with toe or toes missing. Approximately 95% use area.
C Grade - Partial B grade skin or full skin with less than 10 minor imperfections. Approximately, 75% use area.
D Grade - Partial skin, serious damage, multiple imperfections or major tanning blemishes. While there might be some serious imperfections, generally, at least around 50% of the leg skin can be utilised for making small leather goods or craft items.
A photograph of up to 5 examples within a grade of leg skins can be emailed to you for selection.
